As the proud product of the nation's first public school (Boston Latin, founded 1635) that has more than its share of successful, noteworthy graduates, I was skeptical of an educational philosophy I reflexively dismissed as "touchy-feely" and "crunchy granola."
But, as Bayla and Mollie continue to grow into strong, intelligent, self-aware and compassionate beings, this parent has no doubt that Waldorf Education is the right path for them.
Waldorf teaches kids "from the inside out." It establishes within each child a strong foundation of learning and coping skills with which they can build their own capacity to understand, appreciate, adapt and thrive in an uncertain, ever-changing world.
Now more than ever, we need to equip our children with the ability to think and analyze for themselves, and not hate but celebrate and respect everyone, no matter their shape, color, beliefs or how they were born to love. As the OTHER Elvis sang, "What's so funny about peace, love and understanding?"
Just a small donation will go a long way to helping me meet my goal for Emerson Waldorf School. You know me. If it wasn't important, I wouldn't ask.
